Right of Withdrawal (Widerrufsbelehrung)

Statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for consumers under §312g and §355 BGB, with the online withdrawal function (Art. 11a, Directive (EU) 2023/2673) and the digital-goods consent rules per §356 Abs. 5 BGB.

This policy is issued by NetzSec and applies across everything we operate, including the ZeroTraceproduct line (zerotrace.one and its subdomains). Where it says “NetzSec” or “we,” that covers ZeroTrace too.

0. How to exercise this right

You don't need to write a letter or fill out the model form below — there's a one-page online flow that does everything for you. Pick the right card depending on whether you've already submitted:

What you need to start. Your order email and your Stripe receipt number (eight characters, usually written 1234-5678). The receipt number is at the top of the email Stripe sent right after your payment cleared — subject line normally begins with "Your receipt from" or "Your ZeroTrace receipt". If you can't find it, email us and we'll look it up by your order address.

What you'll get back. A reference number that looks like WD-K7H2N3PQ. Save it — that's how you (and we) refer to the withdrawal from that point on. You'll also receive a written confirmation by email from our team, usually within one business day.

1. What happens in each case

The flow branches automatically based on whether your order has shipped. You don't need to choose anything — the form figures it out from our records.

Your order is…What happens when you submitWho pays return shipping
Not yet shippedThe order is cancelled and refunded to your original payment method right away. No goods to send back.n/a
Shipped or already deliveredWe acknowledge the withdrawal, give you a printable return slip with our address, and refund you within 14 days of receiving the goods back (or you showing proof of dispatch — whichever is sooner). You do. It's the standard rule under § 357 Abs. 6 BGB / CRD Art. 14(1).
Mixed cart, you only want some itemsSame as above for the items you tick; the rest of the order stays put. We refund the value of those items only. You, for the items you return.

The 14-day window. Under § 355 BGB the clock starts the day you (or someone you nominated) physically receive the goods — not the day you ordered. For multi-item deliveries it starts on the day the last item arrives. You only need to send the withdrawal within those 14 days; the goods themselves have a further 14 days to make their way back.

Refund amount. We reimburse the price of the items you return. If you withdraw the entire order, we also refund the original outbound shipping cost (§ 357 Abs. 2 BGB / CRD Art. 13(2)). If you only return some items, the outbound shipping stays — the partial shipment was still delivered.

3. Consequences of Withdrawal

If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse all payments received from you, including delivery costs (with the exception of supplementary costs arising if you chose a delivery type other than the cheapest standard delivery we offer), without undue delay and no later than 14 days from the day on which we are informed of your decision to withdraw.

We will use the same means of payment as you used for the original transaction, unless expressly agreed otherwise; in no event will you be charged any fees for this reimbursement.

We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having sent them back, whichever is earliest.

You shall send back the goods to us, without undue delay and in any event no later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal. The deadline is met if you send the goods before that period has expired. You bear the direct cost of returning the goods.

You are liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics, and functioning of the goods.

4. Early Performance of Digital Content (§356 Abs. 5 BGB)

For contracts on the supply of digital content not on a tangible medium (e.g. firmware licences, software downloads, dashboard activations), the right of withdrawal expires if:

  • you have expressly consented to performance beginning before the end of the withdrawal period; and
  • you have acknowledged that, by giving your consent, you lose your right of withdrawal upon commencement of performance.

We capture both of these confirmations at checkout. If you do not give the consent, the firmware licence is activated only after the 14-day withdrawal period has ended. The online withdrawal form will automatically mark any digital items as ineligible when consent was given — only the physical hardware in your order is selectable.

5. Model Withdrawal Form

You don't need this form if you use the online withdrawal function — it's only here because the law requires us to publish it. (Complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract.)
